Dragon XC Newsletter: Champoeg Invitational As coaches, we wanted to share with you all a recap of the Champoeg Invitational, which took place Friday, October 11. We are incredibly proud of the student-athlete's growth this season and we want to showcase this in a short newsletter. We hope to make this a consistent newsletter we can share after a race week! JV BOYS BLUE - 5th out of 13 teams Robert led the way for the JV BOYS BLUE race, placing 7th overall with a new personal best of 20:52. Elijah and Caden worked in tandem the last mile, placing 13th and 14th. Jacob and Blake put themselves in a great position today, fighting hard to the end, placing 43rd and 87th out of 139 runners. All of these boys had incredible finishes down the finishing chute, each passing several competitors! JV BOYS GOLD - 13th out of 15 teams Joey set the pace early in the JV BOYS GOLD race, setting a second consecutive season best with a 19:14, placing 40th overall. Bryce placed 62nd, lowering his personal best by 12 seconds and adding to his consistent season. Chris placed 73rd, running a small personal best of 20:00, after 20:01 last week. Dustin tied his personal best with a time of 20:48—a testament to Dustin’s consistency this season. Despite not feeling his best, Sam ran a hard race, running 21:33, just eight seconds off his PR. GIRLS VARSITY - 5th out of 19 teams (with only 5 girls!!!) Kelsey led the charge for the GIRLS VARSITY race, finishing in 3rd place with a new personal best time of 18:21, which is the fastest posted time by a Dallas junior girl. Followed closely behind was Amber, placing 7th in a time of 18:36, which is also the fastest posted time by a Dallas sophomore girl. Despite not feeling her best, Jazmine competed with grit, placing 37th in 20:51, adding to her consistent season. Polly went out faster than she had all year and fought hard in the last mile, placing 37th in 20:51. Macky brought it today, shaving 41 seconds off her personal best, placing 104th. New Personal Bests! ● Robert Martin 20:52 ● Bryce Hoxie 19:43 ● Chris McKenzie 20:00 ● Kelsey Rodli 18:21 ● Amber Green 18:36 ● Macky Parsons 24:18.
